Elementary School Redistricting, Consolidation Tops School Board's Thursday Agenda

A presentation about elementary school enrollment will be given at Thursday's Council Rock School Board meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Council Rock School Board has released its Thursday agenda — and redistricting and elementary school consolidation will take center stage.

The district’s administrative team is slated to making a presentation about elementary school enrollment during the board’s meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.

The presentation will also begin to “explore potential options for redistricting and school consolidation,” Superintendent Robert Fraser said last week.

In November 2014, the board made a motion that elementary school enrollment be reviewed at the first board meeting in October, Fraser explained.

That motion followed numerous meetings and discussions about school consolidation, which resulted in Wrightstown Elementary school staying open and upper grade levels moving to Newtown Elementary. That change began this school year.

The potential of full-day kindergarten will be addressed, Fraser told Patch last week. “Given that it is a topic of discussion and consideration, one cannot talk about school capacities without including the potential of full-day Kindergarten,” Fraser said.

No decisions will be made on the issue at the Oct. 1 meeting, Fraser said.

The meeting will be televised live on CRTV. Click here to view the full agenda.
