Gun Discharged, Vehicle Stolen: Northampton Township Crime Report

In other reports, a driver was charged with DUI after his car rolled backward and struck a police car.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 5 and 18:

January 5

  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the 1200 block of Newtown-Richboro Road for a traffic accident. Unit 2 was traveling eastbound on Newtown-Richboro Road when they came to a stop for a construction vehicle. Unit 1, which was traveling the same direction, made contact with the rear of unit 2. Tow was not required.

  • Gas Leaks - Patrol responded to a home on Windy Knoll Drive for the report of a propane smell inside the home. Once on scene, it was found that there was an issue with a gas stove top. The gas supply was shut off, and the homeowner would have the stove repaired.

January 7

  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the 1100 block of Temperance Lane for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was backing out from a driveway when it struck unit 2 which was parked. Tow was not required. Electric Dirt Bike Patrol observed an electric dirt bike being operated on 2nd Street Pike. Contact was made with the operator who was a juvenile. A parent responded to the scene to pick up the juvenile and electric dirt bike. They were explained the laws regarding e-bikes/dirt bikes and a violation was issued.

January 8

  • Theft - Patrol responded and spoke to a resident in the Ivyland section of the township for the report of theft. The caller reported that they mailed a check using their mailbox and found that an unknown person took the check, rewrote it and deposited it. Information was gathered and the report was assigned to detectives.

January 9

  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of Jacksonville Road and Bristol Road for a traffic accident. Unit 2 was stopped on northbound Jacksonville Road when they were struck from behind by unit 1 which was traveling the same direction. Tow was not required.

January 10

  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of Bustleton Pike and Cornell Avenue for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was stopped on Cornell Avenue and was attempting to make a left turn onto Bustleton Pike. While turning, unit 1 made contact with unit 2, which was traveling northbound on Bustleton Pike. Tow was not required.

January 11

  • Disabled Vehicle - Patrol observed a disabled vehicle on Churchville Lane. Contact was made with the driver who reported having a dead car battery. Patrol was able to assist the motorist off from the roadway.

January 12

  • Motor Vehicle Theft - Patrol responded to a home in the Holland section of the township for a reported motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight. Information was gathered, and the case has been assigned to detectives.

January 13

  • Public Drunkenness - Patrol responded to a business in the 800 block of 2nd Street Pike for a well being check. The caller reported an individual lying on the ground inside the business. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the individual, who police said was visibly intoxicated. The individual was transported back to their home, and a non-traffic citation for public intoxication was filed.

January 14

  • DUI Arrest - Patrol observed a vehicle that appeared to be disabled on Middle Holland Road near Rock Way. As the officer exited the patrol vehicle, the driver exited their vehicle as well. The vehicle, which was not in park, rolled backward and struck the patrol vehicle. Following an investigation, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

January 15

  • Lost Dog - Patrol received a report of a lost dog in the 1000 block of Holland Road. A short time later, the dog was located and reunited with its family.

January 16

  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of Middle Holland Road and West Village Road for a traffic accident. Unit 2 was traveling eastbound on Middle Holland Road near West Village Road and came to a stop. While stopped, unit 2 was struck from behind by unit 1, which was traveling in the same direction. Tow was not required.
  • Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to a shopping center parking lot in the 800 block of Bustleton Pike for an accident. Unit 1 was entering a parking space when it began to accelerate. Unit 1 struck four vehicles before striking and coming to rest against a pillar located at the front of a business. Tow was required.
  • Firearm Discharge - Patrol responded to the 800 block of 2nd Street Pike for a report of an individual who had discharged a firearm. Upon arrival, officers spoke with an individual who said he accidentally discharged a firearm, resulting in a self-inflicted injury. The case has been assigned to detectives.

January 17

  • Traffic Accident/DUI Arrest - Patrol responded to the 100 block of New Road for a traffic accident. During the investigation, a driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

January 18

  • Warrant Arrest - Patrol responded to police headquarters for an individual who turned themselves in on an active warrant. They were subsequently taken into custody.
