Here Ye! The Village Renaissance Faire returns its merriment and mystique to the Middletown Grange Fairgrounds Sept 17 & 18

Hear Ye! Here Ye! The Village Renaissance Faire returns its merriment and mystique to the Middletown Grange Fairgrounds this Sept 17 & 18, for its glorious 17th year, with even more performers and offerings than ever before. When asked why, founder and volunteer faire director Ken Hone simply says, Why Not!?!

This year’s faire will again feature its olde favorites such as jousting knights, flying birds of prey, fire breathers, aerialists, and Living Literature while hosting historical shire events and demonstrations. More than 30 acts will grace the fairgrounds and provide continuous entertainment and exhibits fill the 11 stages, and faireways,that have become so profitable and renowned that, pirates came to plunder the land, but learned that the true riches are the community itself. So they have brought their fleet, made dock and setup an encampment so that they too can become part of the great village. The strength of the village is deep, as unsung common people rise up and become part of the White Knights bound by honor to save the day showing honor comes not from gold, but the heart. In the end, the village glen will not only rejoice an intriguing new guests but band together for an even more profitable and glorious year in which overcome the initial plans of their new “guests.” But how, you must come and see.

Interactive activities for visitors will fill the day as each performers is accustomed to visiting and guiding patrons in their craft. Patrons will spin, weave, juggle, dance, and learn to play music on period instrument. Each of these activities is replicated through-out the faire in a way that the wee ones can try too! It is here where we not only see have to play chess with actors as well as chess pieces that stand 3 feet tall, but also if they so dare, participate in the Kingdom Quest, they too can become part of the show at the closing ceremonies…yes they can be part of the joust show.

Games olde and new fill the grounds, ratapult, throwing fits, castleplunk, chickenshot into a pot, Jacobs ladder, thrown weapons, and more. Pyrate games will focus on the moving islands of magical shore, water battles that slingshot cannon balloons across the fairegrounds, Cannonball Kick, and treasure hunts. Dragons not only soar the skies but they have enlarged games from draughts (checkers for modern folk), chess, dragons & slides, dominos, jenga, and even 6 inch high jacks, everything is bigger and better. New this year, the Pirates of Fortune’s Folly had made land, and that means, magical, merriment, and hysterical mayhem are not far behind.

But the animals lovers are not left out. The Flying Birds of prey fill the skies twice daily, and even fly through hoop held by attendees, one of them could be you. But as they rest, you can partake in some education or holding of these beautiful birds. They are not the only animal shows, there is of course two jousts daily, as well as pony rides, carriages and a royal petting zoo stretched across the faire. And new this year, is the sighting and capturing of images of unicorns mid-day.

How can all this happen in one place, magic. Ask Merlin who captured air for inflatable games by the wee –ones or Myles-his whimsical brother who will walk the faireways and present magic, science, and comedy through-out the day. And word of the Wizards brought a new gameshow, previously unknown.by the Armchair Wizards, interactive theatre meets live role play, where the audience plays the show on the stage, and often along the faireways in between.

We have not even mentioned the new childrens shows and musicians that have joined the faire. Along the pirate theme for seafarers there is The Capture and Return of Bald Beatrice the Baby Mermaid, and the “sea”quel Admiral Giddy-up and the Seahorse Brigade to the Rescue. For the Circus Arts, a melding of music, dance, and theatre there is RIOT and Joy with her fire hoops. The shows go on and are different both days. And what the price, a mere $10 for Adults, $5 for students, and under 5 FREE, with all proceeds benefitting the VIllage Library of Wrightstown.
