Homicide Investigation, DUI Arrest, Road Hazards: Northampton Twp. Police Report

A well-being check in Churchville led to a homicide investigation while other incidents included a dwelling fire and traffic accidents.

RICHBORO, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department responded to a variety of incidents between January 26 and February 1, including a well being check that turned into a homicide investigation, a DUI arrest, and multiple traffic-related calls.

On January 26, police responded to a home in the Churchville section of the township for a well-being check. During the investigation, three deceased family members were found at the residence. A man was taken into custody and charged with the crime. The homicide case has been assigned to detectives for further investigation.

On January 30, police observed a vehicle that had been reported as being involved in a hit-and-run traffic accident. Police spoke with the driver of the vehicle. Through an investigation, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Police responded to a home in the Richboro section on January 27 for a dwelling fire. Once on location, police spoke with the homeowner and it was determined that burnt wiring in the HVAC system caused the issue.

Traffic incidents also kept officers busy. On January 28, police responded to the 600 block of Buck Road for a traffic accident involving an animal. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Buck Road when a deer entered the roadway, resulting in contact with the animal. A tow was required for the vehicle.

On January 29, police responded to the 1500 block of Sackettsford Road for icy conditions. Vehicles were becoming disabled due to roadway conditions, leading to the road's closure. Northampton Township Public Works treated the roadway, and the road was reopened once it was deemed safe for travel.

A traffic accident occurred on January 31 in the area of Middle Holland Road and Rock Way. Unit 2 was following a vehicle that made a quick U-turn. Unit 2 came to a stop, and Unit 1 struck Unit 2 from behind. A tow was not required following this incident.

Finally, on February 1, police responded to a parking lot in the 800 block of 2nd Street Pike for a disabled vehicle. Once on location, police found that the owner was able to resolve the issue with the vehicle.
