Lance Corporal Tom Buseman Returns from Afghanistan
Lance Corporal Tom Buseman of the United State Marine Corps returned from deployment in Afghanistan and participated in a flag ceremony at the Northampton Township building.
United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Tom Buseman was welcomed home to Northampton Township with the retrieval of his Marine Corps flag on Tuesday evening, July 17.
Buseman's family, including his parents, his wife Brigid and son Adrian, joined him at the township building for a brief ceremony as part of the the Northampton Patriots Flag Program to honor residents serving in hostile areas.
While Buseman was deployed in Afghanistan his parents, back on February 22, 2011, placed his personalized Marine flag in the township's display in his honor. On Tuesday that flag was returned to him and replaced with an American flag.

The flag ceremonies usually take place at the Supervisors public meetings, but Buseman was only home on leave for the day. With less than 24 hours notice, Pete Palestina, coordinator of the Patriots Flag Program, put together the quick ceremony so that the township could have the chance to welcome him home before he ventures to New York with his family.
Palestina ended the ceremony by wishing Buseman and his family the very best by saying "glad you are back, thank you for your service. God bless all our troops, OohRah and Semper Fi my man."
