The 2nd annual event is part of a national government initiative.
It's no secret that the number of obese children is growing steadily, and in fact has tripled over the past three decades, according to letsmove.gov.
To help counteract that trend, the Northampton Parks and Recreation Department will host its 2nd Annual "Let’s Move, Let’s Play, Let’s Make it a Day!" event on Oct. 2 at the Municipal Park.
The event, which won an "Excellence in Programming" award from the Pennsylvania Parks and Recreation Department last year, is one that "encourages, educates and entertains kids and their families to incorporate healthy living into a healthy future," according to a press release.
