Taxes are always of interest to residents, especially in these tough economic times. What suggestions do you have to improve the efficiency of the township to save tax dollars?
I will continue to monitor, adjust and oversee all budgetary and financial activities of Northampton Township. Even in these tough economic times we were successful in NOT raising taxes this year and will NOT raise taxes for 2012.
The Davis Pontiac issue is one example of the struggle over whether to bring more large business to Richboro and try to cultivate a “downtown” feel or preserve the small town charm so many people fell in love with 30 years ago. Where do you think is the best direction for the town to go?
In 2006 the board of supervisors recognized the need to cultivate a vision for both the Holland and Richboro areas. Working with the Northampton Township Business and Professional Association, Northampton Township Planning Commission, Northampton Township Economic Development Corporation and other interested parties the concept of the Village Overlay District (VOD) was born. The VOD was unanimously passed in 2008 as the vision for Richboro and Holland. I strongly support development that meets the criteria of the VOD as the best way to further develop and preserve the small town charm of our community.
What other issues would you like to see come to the forefront if you are elected to the Board of Supervisors?
- Utilize our recently enacted Blight Committee Ordinance to begin resolving problems in the Holland area of our township.
- Continue to promote public-private partnerships such as the Miracle League as a way to further develop our communities parks and other township owned assets.
- Work closely with the user groups of our fields at the civic center to find affordable solutions to improve the facilities and parking.
- Ensure that our senior center remains a priority in all future budgetary planning.
- Utilize all of the recent traffic studies complied to institute better traffic patterns on Second Steet Pike, Bustleton Pike and Almshouse Road.
- Keep land preservation a priority when opportunities arise like the recently preserved Heusher Farm.
In 50 words or less, why should residents vote for you?
I have demonstrated leadership on the board of supervisors and have the experience and skill to effectively manage our township in tough economic times. I work closely with elected officials at all levels of government to insure that Northampton taxpayers receive our fair share of resources available. Significant community experience.
