Northampton township 50% water rate increase

I am not sure if this is news worthy, but I think it should be. Our water authority raised our water rates by 50% this year and to hide this huge increase they changed from a quarterly billing to a monthly (they say bill payers asked for it. Since when do they listen to what payers have to say?) which would make it look like you are getting a "smaller" bill than what you are used to see, but in reality if a customer would multiply it by 3 they would see a 50% increase to their 2016 rates. I am not sure what can be done and if this was even legal to hike the price by so much, but someone needs to do something about it. Water is a necessity and not something one can live without and outrageous hike in price will definitely have an effect on people who live on fixed income.
