Northampton Township Supervisor Resigns

NORTHAMPTON, PA — A five-year member of the Northampton Township Board of Supervisors has stepped down, the township announced Friday.

Larry Weinstein, a Republican, has resigned from the five-member board due to personal reasons, the township said in a news release. They are now accepting applications to fill the vacant position.

The board has 30 days to fill Weinstein's vacated term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2019.

Anyone who is interested in the position must submit a letter and resume to the attention of Township Manager Robert Pellegrino, 55 Township Rd., Richbobo, PA 18954, or via email to lrusso@nhtwp.org no later than Sept. 24 at 4:30 p.m.

Interviews will be held on Sept. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. The board will hold a special meeting on Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. to consider an appointment to the board.

\Weinstein was elected to a six-year term in 2013. Prior to serving on the board, he'd been elected to the township's board of auditors in 2001, 2003 and 2009. He also has served as the campaign manager for state Rep. Scott Petri since 2002.

On the board of supervisors, he acted as liaison to the police and fire departments and to the Veteran’s Advisory Commission.

An attorney, Weinstein received a Bachelor of Arts in History with a Minor in Middle East History from Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctorate from Villanova University School of Law. He has been a member of the Pennsylvania bar since 2000.
