Officers to be Recognized During National Police Week
There will be a countywide service on May 21.

National Police Week begins tomorrow, and local officers will be recognized at a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 21. It will be held at St. Andrew's in Newtown.
President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 in 1962, declaring May 15 Peace Officers Memorial Day. Later, President Bill Clinton signed a resolution that all flags at government buildings will be flown half-staff on that day, according to an article on the township's website.
"In honor of Police Week, we ask that you do not forget those Police Officers who protect our community everyday; and specifically those who paid the ultimate price while defending their communities across our great country," Northampton Police Chief Barry Pilla said.
