Rotary Club Holding Bike Drive for the Needy
The annual bike drive for Pedals for Progress will be held Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at Council Rock North.

The Newtown Rotary Club is again holding a used bike drive to support Pedals for Progress.
Adult and children’s bicycles in repairable condition are accepted. Bikes can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 25 at Council Rock High School North. The event will be held rain or shine.
Each year, Pedals for Progress collects 3,000 to 5,000 bicycles for the needy. The nonprofit organization ships the bikes to developing countries like Nicaragua, Ghana and Vietnam. The goal is to help residents of achieve independence by giving them bikes.

It costs the organization $40 to collect, process, ship, rebuild and distribute each bicycle. A donation toward shipping costs is necessary – a suggested minimum is $10 per bike. All cash and material donations are fully tax deductible and a receipt will be available at the collection site.
Working portable sewing machines will also be accepted.
