Sunshine Foundation’s 5K Run/Walk In Richboro To Help Make Dreams Come True

The family-friendly event is for everyone, including dogs. Para athletes are encouraged to participate.

RICHBORO, PA — The Sunshine Foundation is hosting its 24th Annual Run/Walk Bark4Dreams 5K officially timed run and two-mile walk on Saturday, May 30 at Tyler Park Center for the Arts. The family-friendly event is for everyone, including dogs. Para athletes are encouraged.

Participants of the 24th Annual Run/Walk Bark4Dreams will help make dreams come true for local children, including Ethan. Ethan, age 13, from Philadelphia with an intellectual disability, dreams of exploring Super Nintendo World at Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe.

“My son Ethan has developmental delay and has been receiving services since he was about 6 months old. A family trip would be nice to have some comfort and create happy memories," said Ethan’s mom

There is a $30 entry fee per runner and $25 per walker, which benefits the Sunshine Foundation to make children’s dreams come true. The event opens at 8 a.m. with the Mascot Race at 8:45 am, with a 9 am 5K start; 2-mile walk starts immediately after runners. This year’s event is also a great opportunity for corporate groups and organizations to walk or run as a team-building activity that supports children with chronic illnesses and conditions in their community.

Sunshine Foundation answers dreams to children with severe lifelong chronic illnesses and conditions from income-limited families. Conditions such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Level 3 severe autism, Down syndrome, hydrocephalus, severe epilepsy, Sickle Cell Disease, blindness, deafness, trauma from abuse, and others.

To make these dreams a reality for children who may be turned away from other wish-granting organizations that require a life-threatening or critical diagnosis, Sunshine Foundation relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and corporations.

The most common request is a Magical Dream to visit Legoland, Universal Studios, Disney World, and SeaWorld while choosing to stay at the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village near Disney. Sunshine Foundation also answers Special Dreams: shopping sprees, computers and iPads, outdoor playsets, above ground swimming pools, family trips, cruises, adaptive tricycles and other special needs equipment, plus many more.
