Teacher Guilty on Most Charges

The jury found a Northampton man, who is a teacher, guilty on most charges.

The at two teens who wandered onto his property in the 1000 block of Bridgetown Pike could be facing jail time after a jury found him guilty on several charges.

David Kelly, a music teacher at a New Jersey middle school, was found guilty of possessing an instrument of crime, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and simple assault. A jury of his peers found him not guilty on the charge of terroristic threats, according to Phillyburbs.com.

The article states that the jury agreed with Kelly's claims that the gun went off by mistake when he took it outside to tell the boys to get off his property. He claims he did not point the rifle at the two 15-year-olds and regrets the events of that day.

It is unclear if the 43-year-old teacher would remain employed at the where he is employed. He is currently suspended from teaching, the website reports.

Kelly is free on bail and will be sentenced in the coming weeks.
