Troop 147 Eagle Scout Gordon Bryson Completes a Project for Special Equestrians
Holland's Gordon Bryson's Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project is helping preserve equipment at the non-profit therapeutic riding center.
Special Equestrians, a non-profit therapeutic riding program in Warrington, was the beneficiary of Gordon’s Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project. He led a group of volunteers from his troop in the construction of a closet to store saddles and blankets as well as netting to keep birds out of the facility’s attic space. The two components of the project help preserve and protect the program’s equipment.
Gordon served in several leadership positions along his trail to Eagle; he was Historian, Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and most recently Instructor. He camped at Goose Pond, Ockanickon, Hawk Mountain, and Sinoquipe Scout Reservations as well as Camp Tuckahoe. The highlight of Gordon’s scouting experience includes high adventure trips to Blue Ridge Scout Reservation for the New River Experience, hiking at Philmont Scout Ranch and sailing at Sea Base in Florida.
The son of James and Mary Kelso Bryson of Holland, Gordon is a member of the Council Rock South class of 2016. Gordon is a member of National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, National Music Honor Society and National French Honor Society. He placed 8th nationwide in Le Grand Concours and is a 2016 National Merit Finalist. Gordon is a principal cellist of the Council Rock South Orchestra, and a member of The Golden Wings Theater Pit Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. He is also a four-year member of and current principal cellist of the Bucks County Music Educators All County Orchestra. He also studies piano privately. He is a member of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and International Cuisine Clubs at school. He previously studied fencing and was qualified in the USA National Fencing Championships and the Junior Olympics. Gordon will be studying Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall.
