Troop 147 Eagle Scout Keith "KJ" McBride Returns to Holland Elementary School for Service Project
The playground at Holland Elementary is safer thanks to the work of Eagle Scout "KJ" McBride.
“KJ”, who had attended Holland Elementary School, wanted to give something back to the school he had attended for seven years. His Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project was a 128 foot long fence at the edge of the playground used by primary grade students at the school. The fence creates a barrier between the playground and the slope leading to the woods at the edge of the playground which makes the area safer.
Along his trail to Eagle, “KJ” served his troop in many leadership roles, but is proudest of his role as Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader for new scouts transitioning to the troop cub scouts. Since joining as a Tiger Cub, “KJ” has participated in many community service projects at the National Cemetery at Washington Crossing, local food pantries, area parks, Northampton Recreation Center, Northampton Library and Holland Elementary school. He has camped extensively with his troop including trips to Virginia for canoeing, rock climbing and whitewater rafting and a 10-day hike at Philmont Scout Ranch.
The son of Kevin and Kali McBride of Holland, "KJ" is a member of the Council Rock High School South class of 2016. He is a member of the school’s orchestra and is the battery captain of the marching band which earned a first place in competition under his leadership. “KJ” is also a member of the Music National Honor Society. “KJ” will attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the fall where he intends to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
