Troop 147 Eagle Scout Stephen Paul Carr Completes Project at Northampton Senior Center

The idea for Stephen Carr’s Eagle Scout Leadership Project came from his experience visiting his grandparents at retirement and nursing facilities. It was through these frequent visits that Stephen recognized the need to support seniors in the community. Working with township administrators he planned and led a group of volunteers in the execution of a project at James Kinney Senior Center in Northampton Township. The project included the construction of benches, wheelchair accessible picnic tables, bird houses and feeders. He also purchased several large planters that he filled with rose bushes. Stephen also installed the furniture on the patio and placed the birdhouses along the perimeter of the property as well as multiple bird feeders where they can be viewed from the patio.

Stephen served his troop as Chaplain Aide, Scribe, Patrol Leader, Instructor, Troop Guide and most recently as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster on his trail to Eagle. He is a member of Order of the Arrow Ajapeu Lodge and plans to seal his Brotherhood at the Fall Ordeal Weekend. He considers the trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in 2014 and to Sea Base in Florida to be highlights of his time as a scout. His dad, also and Eagle Scout, joined the troop on both trips; he had hiked at Philmont in 1963 when he himself was a scout.

The son of Marc and Sherri Carr of Northampton Township, Stephen is a member of the Council Rock High School South class of 2017 where he participates in the football program. He was selected to attend Pennsylvania American Legion Boys Keystone State this summer on a scholarship provided by American Legion Edgar H Denson Post 79 in New Hope. He is an active member of Davisville Church in Southampton. In his free time, Stephen enjoys playing the piano and woodworking.
