'Unwieldy' Senior Prank at Council Rock South Under Investigation

The prank, which involved the smashing of watermelons, 'grew unwieldy,' the principal said. Officials are investigating.

Administrators and security officials at Council Rock South High School are investigating a senior prank done Friday involving the smashing of watermelons, according to information from the district.

The watermelon was tossed during a class transition and “grew unwieldy” when students started throwing the fruit in the library lobby, Principal Albert R. Funk said in a letter to parents.

“It is extremely fortunate no one was injured,” Funk said, adding the district does not condone senior pranks.

Seniors will be addressed during an assembly at 9th period, school officials said.

The prank caused “a major disruption” in the school and left behind a mess, Funk said, adding the incident is under investigation by school officials.

“Even worse, this display occurred while our 8th graders from the middle schools were in the auditorium during a visitation. This is certainly not how we wish to represent ourselves to incoming students or represent ourselves, in general, for that matter,” Funk said.

Disciplinary consequences will be administered as deemed necessary, the principal said.

School officials did not immediately return a request for comment from Patch.
