Performance For People

Founded here in the city of Pittsburgh, Performance for People is the world’s first charity for sketch comedy, musicians and artists of all disciplines. The program provides emerging artists with the experience, guidance, and tools they need to properly prepare for the professional entertainment business through mentorship and guidance.
Starting October 29th, Performance for People will be hosting a show Monday nights at the Rex Theatre for an extended eight-week period. The show will feature original sketch comedy acts from both local and nationally known comedians. A musical spot, from a different featured performer each week, will follow.
Featuring fresh, local talent, the show promises all original material, void of pop culture references and satire. Fourteen students of the Pittsburgh based Improv Academy have already been devoting hours each week in order to make this show as entertaining as possible.Together with the sketches from local actors and comedians providing an evening of laughter, free pizza for the audience, and three DJs entertaining the crowd before and after.

The first show will be held Oct. 29, 2012 at 6 P.M. at The Rex Theatre in South Side, 1602 E. Carson St. Come out and help a great cause!!
