PRO SQUASH TOUR’S PITTSBURGH OPEN COMES TO THE RIVERS CLUB

Top squash players from around the world will compete in the Pro Squash Tour’s Pittsburgh Open, November 9 through 11, 2012, at the Rivers Club, 301 Grant Street. The tournament will feature a mix of international champions plus local talent from the Pittsburgh area.

Headlining the event is David Palmer of Australia, the world’s most dominant player of the past decade.  A four-time British Open Champion, Palmer joined Pro Squash Tour last year and has won a steady stream of titles, including the recent Bobcat Classic at Bates College. The field will also feature 11-time French National Champion Thierry Lincou, who won the Pro Squash Tour’s Cleveland Classic last month, Stephane Galifi, Italy’s No. 1 player, Bradley Ball of England, 2011 PST World Champion, and more. In addition, there will be two wild cards for local pros.

Matches begin Friday, November 9 at 5 p.m. and continue on Saturday, November 10 with the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. and semifinals at 5 p.m. The championship final is scheduled for Sunday, November 11 at noon, following a third place match at 11 a.m. Admission is complimentary.

Players from across the globe compete on the Pro Squash Tour for points and prize money. PST's top eight players are invited to an end-of-season tournament to compete for the PST World Championship in May.
