Father, Uncle Charged In Crash That Killed 2-Year-Old Girl

The accident on the Parkway North last year claimed the life of Saryiah Jefferson,

WEST VIEW, PA - The father and uncle of a 2-year-old West View girl who died in a car crash last year on the Parkway North have been charged in connection with her death.

Taylor Jefferson, 25, the victim’s uncle, has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter and several other charges. Tyrek Jefferson, 23, the girl’s father, is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Last May, Taylor Jefferson was driving outbound on the parkway when he stopped his car and put it in reverse, possibly trying to get onto the Perrysville exit he had driven past. As he did so, another car collided with Jefferson’s vehicle.

Saryiah Jefferson, who police said was not in a car seat and was not wearing a safety belt, died in the crash.

It was not immediately clear why police waited 10 months to file charges against the men.
