Fire Victims Finding New Office Space
One tenant discovers precious letters and cash amid ruin.
Tenants of the commercial building at 3185 Babcock Boulevard spent the weekend clearing out and searching for anything salvageable following
Michael Eisen, a bankruptcy attorney was one of them. The fire is certainly a setback to his business, but he was trying to look at the glass as half full, rather than half empty.
“Although it is tough losing much in this fire, many of my clients have had to endure worse, and they bounce back,” he said. “I will use their strength and the kindness of others to get through this. It is a bump in the road. As a bankruptcy attorney, I have seen many clients endure worse and have bounced back.”

The kindness of others includes the management at the RE/MAX realty office at 6200 Babcock Boulevard. The landlord, whom Eisen had never met, has offered Eisen temporary office space for free.
But Eisen got another sign Sunday that not all was lost in the fire.

“I had kept some letters from my fiancée when we were first dating and kept them at the office. I knew with such a horrendous fire, they could not possible have survived,” he said.
But he was wrong. “Piled underneath burned debris was a plastic envelop with all the letters remarkable untouched,” Eisen said. “And to my further astonishment, there was literally $1,000 in cash buried in the soot that was soaked from the fire hoses but still in good shape. It sounds corny but this $1,000 that was found in the middle of all this burning mess, gave me kind of a symbolic hope.”
The Ross Fire Marshal suspects an electrical problem triggered the fire, and hopes to have a definitive cause in the next day or so.
Another tenant, Studio Raw, a beauty salon, is also relocating. They hope to reopen Tuesday, at a temporary salon, located at 3471 Babcock Boulevard, right next to the recently opened
