Former Allegheny County Police Officer Convicted Of Filing False Report

Judge sentences Ross resident to probation in vehicle incident.

A former Allegheny County police officer from Ross Township has been convicted of filing a false report about a suspicious vehicle at the Allegheny County Airport

Edward Vogler, 45, was on patrol at the airport in May when someone called in a report involving a suspicious vehicle. According to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office, Vogler responded to the call and told the sergeant on duty that the vehicle was a maintenance vehicle but that he didn't obtain any more details about it.

When the sergeant arrived on the scene, he could not locate the vehicle. Vogler put the information in a report and said he'd been assisted by a West Mifflin police officer who was not on duty that night.

Eventually, Vogler admitted that he fabricated the report and that he owned the vehicle in question, according to the district attorney's office.

A jury convicted Vogler of one count each of unsworn falsification and filing false reports to law enforcement.
