Parkway North Crash Victim Identified, Road Finally Reopens
The highway was closed more than 10 hours after the fatal wreck.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - The inbound lanes of the Parkway North reopened around 5 p.m. Tuesday, about 12 hours of chain-reaction accidents that left one man dead and three others injured.
A single-lane restriction is in place between the Bellevue/West View (Exit 7) and Perrysville Avenue (Exit 5) interchanges in the location of the crash. Crews will conduct guiderail repair at approximately 1 a.m. and PennDOT expects the roadway to be open to unrestricted traffic for the morning rush hour.
A dump truck traveling near the Bellevue Road overpass hit a concrete median, slid across the highway, crashed through a guardrail and slid partially down an embankment. The driver of the dump truck, Bryant Beiter, 64, of Munhall was killed.

The truck spilled a load of slag dust that blocked the vision of oncoming drivers. Five vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction, with three people being injured and taken to area hospitals. Their conditions are unknown.
The accident forced the inbound closure of the parkway at Camp Horne Road and made for a gridlocked commute from the North Hills inbound toward Downtown. PennDOT traffic cameras indicated the highway was still closed southbound as of 3:20 p.m.
