Ross Township Condemns Building Following Fire

Ross Commissioner who owned the building praises firefighters' efforts.

The remnants of the commercial building at 3185 Babcock Boulevard in Ross Township will be condemned, and the build torn down following a . 

“The notice will be going up today,” said Dan Hankins, Ross Township’s Code Enforcement Officer. 

The structure is owned by Ross Commissioner Peter Ferraro and had been home to several offices, including Arbors Management Inc.; Santucci Insurance; Eisen & Associates, an attorney's office; Massage Centre for Fibromyalgia and the Studio Raw hair salon.

At the conclusion of Monday’s Board of Commissioners meeting, several of the commissioners, including Ferraro, complimented firefighters for their efforts Friday.

“It was just overwhelming,” Ferraro said. “We take a lot of things for granted, and I watched those individuals, they put their life on the line. Me never being a fireman, I have a better appreciation, so my hat’s off to them.” 

The Ross Fire Marshal suspects an electrical problem triggered the fire, and hopes to have a definitive cause by the end of the week.
