Club Julian Success Story – John Peterson
John Peterson may have lost 50 lbs. since joining Club Julian, but to him, it’s more about what he has gained that has changed his life. “I am a whole different person as far as self-confidence goes,” says the single, 31-year-old management professional. He says that his renewed self-confidence has opened up new doors for him in everything from dating to dek hockey. And he plans to make the most of every opportunity in life.
“Honestly, it really wasn’t hard for me to change my lifestyle,” says John, “I had gotten to the point where I was just so frustrated with the way I looked, and the way I felt. I knew that I needed to change.”
John achieved his impressive results in just 5 months through a combination of healthy eating and a disciplined workout schedule at Club Julian. He has been averaging 3-5 workouts per week. John primarily uses the elliptical machines in Club Julian’s upstairs cardio area. In 30 minutes, John does approximately 3.5 miles and burns about 400-450 calories.

“With the ellipticals, there is no stress on my knees. I tried running outside, but it just kills my knees,” says John. He wants to continue making improvements to his cardiovascular conditioning before he begins a weight training regimen.
Because John works shifts, Club Julian’s 24-hour accessibility is a key factor for him. Many of his workouts take place late in the evening. John started at 233 lbs. and is now down to a svelte 183 lbs. on a 5 foot 7 inch frame. His ultimate goal is 170 lbs.

John said when he hit the 25 lbs. weight loss plateau, people really started to take notice. “When I went back to the store where I worked previously – the people there were just blown away,” he says. “That was pretty neat, actually.”
In addition to the obvious change in his appearance, John reports sleeping better and waking up more energized and ready for his workday – which often requires him to walk five or more miles a day.
