Hoping to bring river commerce and prosperity across the United States, the construction of the Erie Canal began on July 4, 1817. Come along with us on Wednesday, July 17 at 2:00 pm when we cruise the canal from Albany to Buffalo, New York. In Troy, we’ll learn how the name “Uncle Sam” came into being and see where Woolworth built his first store in Utica. The home of George Eastman is located along the way in Rochester. You may be surprised to learn that the famous medina sandstone churches in Albion were personally designed by Tiffany. At our last stop, we’ll visit the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York for some “buffalo wings” while finding out why this city is considered so very presidential. Come along! Enjoy some light refreshments on this summer Erie Canal Cruise.
