Schuylkill court hearing set for ongoing Blue Mountain School Board vacancy (republicanherald.com) — Blue Mountain School District remains stuck with an 8-member, deadlocked board, so a Schuylkill County judge will hold an Oct. 14 hearing to fill the vacant seat. Meanwhile, regular business continues, with the next board meeting set for Sept. 28 at Blue Mountain Middle School in Orwigsburg, where residents can listen in even though the vacancy likely won't be discussed.
   

2. H.S. Golf: Lourdes' Reiprish successfully defends Schuylkill League title (newsitem.com) — Golf fans near Orwigsburg saw Lourdes Regional's Vivian Reiprish successfully defend her Schuylkill League title with an 83 at Schuylkill Country Club. The performance, four strokes better than runner-up Emma Troutman of Minersville, keeps a major high school golf crown in familiar hands on Orwigsburg's home course.
   

3. September 22, 2026: Days Gone By (republicanherald.com) — A "Days Gone By" feature looks back at Schuylkill County moments, including a remembrance of late county commissioner Stanley H. Tobash Jr., described as being from Orwigsburg. More than 1,200 mourners once filled a Schuylkill Haven church to honor him, highlighting the deep regional ties and impact of Orwigsburg residents in county leadership.
   

4. Two Men Face 15 New Charges Each After Schuylkill County Vehicle Break-Ins and Berks Pursuit (skooknews.com) — Residents around Orwigsburg are learning more about a March incident where police say three males broke into vehicles in the area and allegedly stole a car before a pursuit into Berks County. Two young men from out of state now face 15 new Schuylkill County charges each, while one has already pleaded guilty in a related Berks County case and another's case continues.
