New Traffic Light Coming for Route 248

Route 248 is going to be a little more stop and go—and stop—down the road.

The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors has approved a traffic easement, basically giving the green light to Strausser Enterprises for improvements around the Northwood Center, which includes a CVS and one day a Sheetz gas station/convenience store.

Township solicitor Charles Bruno said Strausser Enterprises signed off on a permanent right-of-way to accommodate the traffic signal, which will be on the corner of Route 248 and Kingston Road.

CVS opened earlier this year and land has been cleared for Sheetz but no building has taken place yet. It is unknown when Sheetz is scheduled for completion.

The project has stalled for several months as the developer, Strausser Enterprises, sought permit approval from the state Department of Transportation.

Strausser has proposed building the largest Sheetz convenience store in the Lehigh Valley.
