Purse Swipe at Palmer Giant

Palmer Township man arraigned on theft charges for allegedly snatching woman's purse Friday afternoon.

A Palmer Township man was jailed Friday after he allegedly stole a woman's purse from a township shopping center.

Peter J. Lachowich, 27, of 2912 Old Nazareth Road is charged with robbery, forgery, reckless endangerment, receiving stolen property and theft.

According to township police, Lachowich grabbed a woman's purse Friday afternoon as she was coming into the Giant on 25th Street.

Lachowich ran to his car, but the woman followed and was able to give police the car's license number and description of his vehicle.

Another officer spotted him later in the day at Palmer Park Mall, where Lachowich had allegedly written a $250 check to himself with the woman's checkbook.

He was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Gay Elwell in Easton and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
