Graterford Road Bridged Closed

The Graterford Road Bridge in Perkiomen Township has been closed due to structural deterioration.

The Graterford Road Bridge in Perkiomen Township has been closed due to structural deterioration, PennDOT announced today.

The bridge, which spans the Perkiomen Creek in Perkiomen Township, will be closed “until a plan is developed,” PennDOT said in a statement. The bridge, built in 1957, carries nearly 2,900 cars a day.

“A bridge inspection determined that the bridge’s steel beams and deck had deteriorated to the point that the we could no longer allow motorists to travel over it,” PennDOT District Executive Lester C. Toaso said. During the bridge closure, Graterford Road will be detoured over Route 29, Plank Road, and Route 73.
