Lower Frederick Seeking New Planning Commission Member
In other business, township is applying for grant and the regional ambulance corps has begun its membership drive.

• Lower Frederick is looking for a new member for its planning commission, according to Planning Commission Chair Crystal Gilchrist. The position is open because planning commission member Ralph Walters has decided to retire after close to 50 years of service.

• A resolution was passed Tuesday night for the township to apply for a grant from PECO Green Regions that will go towards purchasing a 2.8 acre property on the Lower Frederick and Limerick Township border, with the intentions of keeping it open space, said township manager Tamara Twardowski.
The township is applying for a $10,000 grant, and one guideline of the grant is that the township matches the money it is granted. The township intends on applying for a grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to cover the $10,000 they would be required to spend in order to receive the PECO Green Regions grant, according to Twardowski.
• Also passed Tuesday night was an ordinance that states parking will no longer be provided on Memorial Drive north within 300 feet of Gravel Pike after an ordinance was passed by township supervisor’s Tuesday night.

• On Saturday, The DEA and received 11 pounds of prescription drugs from residence of Lower Frederick and the surrounding communities, as the township , according to Police Chief Paul Maxey. The initiative was started as a way for citizens to bring unwanted narcotics to authorities, with no questions asked. It is a way for residents to properly dispose of medication so it does not fall into the wrong hands.

Residents who become members will be fully covered financially if they ever use the ambulance service, according to McGovern. To become a member, call 610-287-9110, option #1. Also, entertainment books are being sold by the ambulance corps. The books contain coupons for local businesses and cost $30. All proceeds benefit the Lower Frederick Regional Ambulance Corps.

• Sunday, Nov. 5 - Sunrise Mill tour starts at 1:00. Sunrise Mill was a grist and sawmill built in 1767 that provided services for local farmers, according to the Sunrise Mill website. The tour is open to all Lower Frederick Township residence, visit the Park and Recreation Board section of the township’s website to sign up.
• Saturday, Nov. 12 – The township will be participating in the Tree Tender Program from 9 a.m. to noon. Six bare root trees will be planted under the direction of Warren Jacobs. Residents are encouraged to attend.
• Sunday, Jan. 8- A Bird Town lecture will be held at the township building at 3 p.m. Backyard bird counts will be discussed at the meeting, as well as birds of Lower Frederick Township.
