PVSD Principals Switching Schools Next Year
Parents attended Monday's school board meeting to discuss the change that impacts Perkiomen Valley Middle School West and Skippack Elementary.

A group of parents attended Monday’s Perkiomen Valley School Board meeting to discuss the switch of two school district principals this year, affecting Perkiomen Valley Middle School West and Skippack Elementary School.
Beginning July 1, Kim Boyd, current principal of Skippack Elementary, will become the PVMS West principal, and Ryan Stanson-Marsh, who leads PVMS West, will move to Skippack Elementary.
“[PVSD Superintendent Clifford] Rodgers announced that Mr. Stanson-Marsh will be moved to an Elementary School and that a principal with no middle school experience will be moved to Middle School West,” said Perkiomen Valley Patch Reader who is helping to organize the parents’ presence at the meeting, at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkiomen Valley High School library.

“Dr. Rogers initiated these changes in March and believes Mr. Stanson-Marsh’s knowledge of the middle school curriculum and expectations will be valuable as he works with faculty, staff and students at the elementary level to prepare children for the next stage of their educational careers,” said Jessica Lester, Perkiomen Valley School District spokesperson.
“Similarly, Mrs. Boyd, who is an expert in instructional practices and has served as a professional developer for the district in the past, will bring her knowledge of elementary curriculum and instruction to the middle school level,” according to Lester.

Lester said the moves will help to strengthen practices on both levels, and will help the transitions for children moving from elementary to secondary school.
Assistant principal Donna Milligan has supported both principals this year, splitting her time between PVMS West and Skippack elementary this year, a “Temporary assignment made to help adjust the teacher-principal ratio at Skippack,” according to Lester.
Milligan will return to PVMS West for the coming school year, according to Lester.
“While we recognize that these administrators will be missed by the populations they have served, the changes are designed to best utilize the skills of our administrative team members and ultimately benefit our students and our schools,” Lester said.
