
DNA is a dynamic guitar duo consisting of members are Dave Wingo and Justin Trainer and featuring Anna May Dewar on some vocals. DNA has performed several times at our Open Mic Nights and have become some of our favorite performers. They have some of the most unique arrangements of many favorite songs of many various genres.
DNA's main focus is on the great guitarists of the past and present.Â
Dave has played for years with local and nationally known groups. Dave performed in the tri-state area for 20 years with a well known Pittsburgh show band called The Memories. In 1995 the group disbanded as several members went on to national acts including Dave. Two of the members joined The Marcel’s and two of the members joined the nationally known group The Vogues. In Dave’s 15 years with The Vogues he has done shows with many of the national acts of the time. In 2001 he played with The Vogues at their induction into the rock group vocal hall of fame. He has played with various national bands, when they were in the Pittsburgh area. The last big show he performed was at the Mellon Arena with Little Anthony and other Doo Wop groups in December of 2008. Dave has decided to strike out on his own to showcase his talent on the guitar.Â
Justin Trainer is a recent graduate of Mercyhurst College, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. Justin has performed with bands such as the Mercyhurst Jazz Combo and his own college project Indigo. He has worked as a guitar instructor at Mercyhurst College’s Sullivan Conservatory and currently teaches with Progressions Music Studio.Â
Anna May Dewar was a member of many choirs and ensembles during her school years and beyond including singing with the McKeesport symphony orchestra. She studied under Ester Spadero an award winning choral and vocal teacher out of the Pittsburgh area.Â
