The Effects of Stress on the Immune System

The Peters Township Support Group of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America will host a free education program featuring Dr. Bruce Rabin of UPMC at the Peters Township Public Library. To attend this free program, please register at the library circulation desk or call 724.941.9430.

Dr. Rabin will discuss the effects of stress on the immune system and the pathways of communication between the brain and the immune system.  He will share his stress-reduction program and explain its benefits for IBD patients.  The program was developed specifically for patients and families dealing with Crohn's disease, but the program concepts are relevant for anyone dealing with an immune-challenging disease.

Bruce Rabin, M.D., Ph.D. is professor of pathology, psychiatry and psychology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and medical director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Healthy Lifestyle Program and is a recognized authority in the effects of stress on the human immune system.
