1 Dead, 1 Hurt After Robbery Leads To Shootout, Crash

The scene unfolded in a West Philadelphia store, and the suspect's getaway vehicle crashed into a SEPTA bus after a shooting in the store.

PHILADELPHIA — A 36-year-old man died in a shootout with a teenager and another man who tried to rob him in a Philadelphia business, according to police.

Terrell Jones, 36, of Philadelphia, died at 10:24 p.m. after being shot multiple times, police said.

Jones at about 10:11 p.m. Wednesday was inside a store on the 800 block of North 40th Street, reportedly playing a game in the store, police said.

Two men came up to him and tried to rob him, according to police. NBC10 reports the suspects put a gun to the back of Jones's head.

One of the men fired at Jones, fatally wounding him, but police said Jones was able to shoot back at the suspects.

The two drove off in a blue vehicle, but that vehicle crashed into a SEPTA bus near 41st and Brown streets, police said. No one on the bus was harmed.

The two suspect ran off, but the teenager, 17, was found on the 700 block of Preston Street with gunshot wounds to his arm and chest, police said.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the deadly shooting.
