1 Dead, 8 Injured In July 4 Mass Shooting In SW Philadelphia
A 20-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the head following the Thursday shooting near Kingsessing Avenue.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A 20-year-old man was killed and several others were injured Thursday night in a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia, according to police and reports.
Philadelphia police officers were on routine patrol around 11:30 p.m. in the area of 60th and Kingsessing Avenue when they saw a person lying on the street, authorities told the Philadelphia Inquirer. Officers later realized the person had been shot.
Additional officers arrived and located several more victims before taking them to nearby hospitals, reports said. Other victims drove themselves to the hospital in a private car.

In all, three juveniles and six adults were shot, according to Philadelphia police.
The victim found in the street was identified by police as a 20-year-old man. He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital where he later died from a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The other victims ranged in age from 14 to 24 years old, police said.
According to an NBC Philadelphia report, the shooting happened when a gunman fired out of the passenger side of a moving SUV. Action News reported that the crime scene spanned over two blocks and there may have been a barbecue going on at the time at the time of the shooting.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified, police said.
