2 Guns Caught At Philly International Airport In 2 Days: TSA

Guns were caught at security checkpoints on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 in the bags of a Montgomery County woman and a Florida man, TSA said.

PHILADELPHIA — TSA officers at the Philadelphia International Airport intercepted two firearms in two days' time last week.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, a firearm was intercepted when the checkpoint X-ray unit alerted a TSA officer of the gun inside a man's carry-on bag.

Police responded to the checkpoint, confiscated the firearm and issued the man, of Florida, a criminal citation.

TSA said it will also likely issue him a Federal financial civil penalty, which could cost him thousands of dollars.

Then the next day, a Montgomery County woman was found with a gun in her carry-on bag.

A TSA checkpoint X-ray unit alerted an officer of the gun inside her carry-on bag. Police responded to the checkpoint, confiscated the firearm and issued the woman, a resident of Norristown, a criminal citation.

As with the Florida man, TSA will likely issue her a Federal financial civil penalty.

As of Sept. 26, TSA has found 31 firearms at the Philadelphia International Airport this year.
