2 Killed In High-Speed Crash On Interstate 95: PD

Pennsylvania State Police said the crash happened on northbound I-95 just after midnight on Friday.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Two people were killed during a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 early Friday morning after police said the car was going at a high rate of speed, State Police said.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers responded just after midnight to the crash near northbound Interstate 95 near mile marker 25.5 in the city and county of Philadelphia.

State Police said the driver and front seat passenger had died of injuries from the crash.

Police said an investigation found that the black Nissan sedan was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed while negotiating a left-hand curve in the roadway.

The car struck a medium concrete barrier on the right side of the roadway before hitting a metal guardrail and other items on the right shoulder of the highway, State Police said.

Interstate 95 northbound traffic was detoured at the Aramingo exit for an extended time.

PennDOT and PECO were also notified due to hanging, live wires from a struck utility pole. The roadway was completely cleared at 6 a.m. on Friday.
