The other main race was for city controller.

Lone Republican controller candidate Michael Tomlinson received 99.78 percent of the vote with write-in candidates earning .22 percent.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney released a statement Wednesday morning congratulating the winners of the primary election.

"I wish to congratulate Larry Krasner and Beth Grossman on their primary victories," Kenney said. "The people of Philadelphia made clear they want a District Attorney who will implement progressive reform, while also keeping our city safe."

Kenney said he is looking forward to either Krasner or Grossman after the Nov. 7 general election.

Kenney wen on to congratulate Rhynhart and Tomlinson, as well.

"I also want to express my sincerest congratulations to Rebecca Rhynhart and Michael Tomlinson on their primary victories," he said. I saw firsthand that Rebecca is capable of making government more efficient and effective."

Kenney thanked Controller Butkovitz for his years of service to the city, saying Butkovitz has made Philadelphia a better place thanks to his leadership.

"Finally, congratulations to our judicial nominees, and thanks to all the voters who showed up to the polls to exercise their civic duty today," Kenney said. "Democracy works best when more voices are included. It saddens me to see an election in which so few Philadelphians voted in the city that gave birth to our nation’s democracy. As elected officials, we all must do what we can to increase civic participation, restore our residents’ faith in our democratic system, and create a government that works for everyone, regardless of zipcode or privilege."
