Barletta Wins GOP Senate Primary
Breaking: Congressman Lou Barletta will be the Republican nominee in November after defeating State Rep. Jim Christiana in the May primary.

10 p.m. update: Congressman Lou Barletta has won the Republican nomination for the Senate race in November, defeating State Rep. Jim Christiana in Tuesday's primary election.
Barletta will take on incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey on Tuesday, Nov. 6 in the general election.
The Democratic party released a statement following Barletta's win, tying him to President Donald Trump in an attempt to sway voters to cast ballots for Casey.

"In Lou Barletta, Pennsylvania Republicans have joined Rick Santorum’s campaign team with Rick Saccone’s message," the statement reads. "On Election Day, Barletta will join them in defeat."
As of 10:30 p.m. Barletta led by more than 110,000 votes with 79 percent of districts reporting.

- Barletta – 266,650 (63.3 percent)
- Christiana – 154,587 (36.70 percent)
Pennsylvania's representation in Washington DC may see some changes this year, including the potential move from the Senate to the House of Representatives for Lou Barletta, a Republican member of the House who represents Pennsylvania's 11th Congressional District.
Pennsylvania's legislature may also see a change, as Pennsylvania Rep. Jim Christiana (R-15) challenges Barletta in Tuesday's primary election for the Senate seat
Barletta, who was elected to Congress in 2010, serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the Homeland Security Committee.
He has four daughters and eight grandchildren.
Christiana has been a Pennsylvania State Representative since 2008. He has worked advance state educational opportunities, pushed labor and industry legislation through, and fought the state's biggest healthcare problems.
Incumbent Democrat Bob Casey is unopposed in the primary.
