Man Wanted For Homicide Killed After Shooting At Philly SWAT Officers

Raheem Lee, who was wanted in connection with an Aug. 21 killing, died after SWAT officers returned gunfire Wednesday morning in Philly.

PHILADELPHIA — Three Philadelphia SWAT officers were shot, and a 19-year-old man wanted on homicide and other charges was killed Wednesday morning during a warrant service.

According to NBC10, the scene unfolded at about 6 a.m. at a residence on the 800 block of North 10th Street.

Officers showed up to the property with a homicide arrest warrant for Raheem Lee, 19, but were met with gunfire, according to Action News.

Lee was wanted for the homicide of Theodore Bell on Aug. 21, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.

Two officers were shot in the leg and hip, and one in the chest. All are in stable condition, Fox 29 reports.

Lee was shot and taken to a hospital, where he died, according to reports.

After the shooting, a barricade situation began at the property.

News cameras caught children being taken out of the home and at least two people being taken into custody.

"The events related to this incident, including the August 21 homicide which appears to be domestic in nature (the victim, Mr. Bell, is connected to the family of Raheem Lee), remain under active investigation by the Philadelphia Police and our Homicide/Non-Fatal Shootings Unit," District Attorney Larry Krasner said.
