35 More Coronavirus Deaths In Philadelphia; 'Clusters' Of Cases

"Congregate settings" were responsible for a significant number of positive cases, including nursing homes, prisons, and other facilities.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia reported 35 new deaths from coronavirus on Friday, bringing the death toll to 137 in the city since the outbreak began.

In addition, 522 more cases of the virus were discovered, as the city's total number of cases rose to 5,793.

"Congregate settings" were responsible for a significant number of positive cases, including nursing homes, prisons, and other facilities.

The total number of inmates in the city that have tested positive is now at 64, and 67 of the 137 deaths occurred in residents of nursing homes.

Philadelphia hospitals still have regular beds and ICU beds available. The Department of Public Health reports 717 coronavirus patients being treated in the city.
