🌱 4 New Councilmembers + Stop Porch Pirates + Oprah & Quinta Sit Down
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Philadelphia.

Hey, friends. It's Tuesday in Philadelphia and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening locally. Because community information is power! In today's issue, we'll touch on:
- Four new Philadelphia City Councilmembers were sworn into office.
- Arrgh! Porch pirates can ruin your online holiday shopping!
- Oprah Winfrey interviewed Philly's own Quinta Brunson of "Abbott Elementary."
But first, today's weather:
Sunshine mixing with clouds. High: 50 Low: 40.
Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:
- Philadelphia City Council has a new block of members that just might change the focus and direction of the political landscape. On Monday, four new members were sworn into office after winning their special elections earlier this month. The four being sworn in were new District 7 and 9 councilmembers Quetcy Lozada and Anthony Phillips, and new at-large members Sharon Vaughn and Jimmy Harrity. (aldianews.com)
- With online Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals come packages to your doorstep. But all too often those packages never make it into your hands thanks to porch pirates. Now neighbors and local businesses are getting creative in order to actually receive what they've purchased. According to Security.org, they say last year roughly 49 million Americans had a package stolen. (WPVI-TV)
- Emmy winner Quinta Brunson sat down with Oprah Winfrey to open up about her meteoric success over the past two years, as well as her childhood, mentors and pivotal career moments. Oprah's interview with the Philadelphia native, who rose to fame as creator, producer and star of "Abbott Elementary," aired Saturday on OWN, and can now be streamed on HBO Max and Discovery+. From my notebook:
- It's pretty bad when you love, love, love the soundtrack at your local grocery chain. You think to yourself as you're moving your hips in the canned soup aisle-when did I grow up, wasn't I dancing to this song in the nightclub? But which supermarkets rule Philadelphia? Sales from two supermarket chains-ShopRite and Giant, make up more than 56% of the local market, according to data gathered from Food World. (Investoreight)
- Authorities in the City of Philadelphia are asking for your help locating ten teenagers that have gone missing in the month of November. And it's not just this month that the city has seen several youths vanish, nor is it just people in that age group. Every month, the city sees people of all ages and from all walks of life vanish. - Because really, we all just want to go to a bar and drink with our dog. A new, locally owned indoor-outdoor dog bar is opening in the former North Star Bar next spring. Combining cocktails and wagging tails, The Boozy Mutt is an off-leash dog park, bar and grill allowing customers to let their four-legged best friends play and romp throughout the facility, all while dog lovers enjoy craft cocktails, beers, a bite to eat and a front row seat to the mutt madness.
