$5K Reward Offered In Search For Man Wanted For Assault Of Philly Cop

Federal authorities are looking for Arthur Jones in connection with the May 12 assault and robbery of an off-duty Philly Police officer.

PHILADELPHIA — A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a man who authorities said assaulted and robbed an off-duty Philadelphia Police officer recently.

The U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force is offering the reward for the arrest of Arthur Jones, 38.

Jones is sought in connection with the Sunday, May 12 incident on the 2100 West Oxford Street.

Jones is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds, police said. He has black hair and brown eyes. Authorities said Jones has a tattoo of dice on his left forearm.

His last known address was on the 600 block of West Harold Street and is considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.

A warrant for aggravated assault, robbery, and firearm possession was issued by the Philadelphia Police Department for Jones after the incident involving Officer Eric Rodriguez, a 42-year-old, 9 year veteran of the department who is assigned to the 22nd District.

"A fugitive who has been charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer becomes a priority case for this task force," Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark said. "We are hoping the public can provide information which will expedite bringing a dangerous individual to justice."
