The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Philadelphia.

Morning, everybody. Patty-Pat Kozlowski here with your Monday edition of the Philadelphia Daily. Keep reading to find out all the most important things happening in town these days, including updates on...
- Nine people were shot outside a bar in Kensington with over 40 shell casings recovered.
- History was made when Philadelphia lost two world championships on the same day.
- PA was chock full of U.S. Presidents on the weekend before Election Day.
But first, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 77 Low: 47.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Philadelphia who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Philadelphia Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in Philadelphia today:
- Nine people were shot outside of Jack's World Famous Bar in Philadelphia's Kensington section on Saturday night. The shooting happened in the area of Kensington and Allegheny Avenues just before 11 p.m. Police say over 40 shots were fired. (NBC 10)
- The city of brotherly love is the first city ever to lose two major pro sports championships on the same day, making history for all the wrong reasons. First, the Union lost the MLS Cup in ridiculously dramatic penalties kicks against LAFC. Then the Houston Astros beat the Phillies in Game 6 of the World Series to claim to the championship in Major League Baseball.(SBNation.com)
- With Pennsylvania races for Governor and Senate too close to call and almost tied, both parties bring out the big kahunas. Presidents Biden and Obama visit Philadelphia and President Trump rallies out near Pittsburgh. All eyes are on PA for the Senate seat that could topple the majority in power. (inquirer.com)

- And if we did win the World Series, today would have been THE PARADE.
From my notebook:
- Grab your ice skates and head to City Hall-or you can rent them there! Beginning this Friday, November 4 at 11:30 a.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark this season's grand opening of the Rothman Ice Rink with program highlights that include a pop-up snow shower and a skate performance with children from the Laura Sims Skate House in West Philadelphia. And yes, the cool cabins with plenty of hot chocolate and adult beverages will be available. (Wooder Ice)
- Philadelphia was the birthplace of no contact dining over a century before the coronavirus pandemic. Anyone remember the Horn and Hardat Automat? The first one opened on 8th and Chestnut streets in 1902. By 1941 there were over a 150 Horn and Hardart locations, all — you guessed it — automated. (billypenn.com)
- The Hooters, a band that originated in Philly and actually practiced in a garage behind the infamous Charlie's Pizza on Roosevelt Boulevard had a song called, "You Can't Get To Heaven on the Frankford El" and this year, the Frankford-Market Line celebrates 100 Years of clickety clackety rail service. BTW, the song goes on to tell you that it's because the Frankford El only goes to Frankford (WHYY)
- Take this as one of the most important public service announcements of your life: Villa di Roma, the epitome of old Philly's red gravy joints, has reopened after a three-month underground pipe restoration. Cash only. Having a drink at the bar will make you feel like an adult and please, please, please don't tell the waitress that's not your preferred pronoun when she calls you "Hun." (msn.com)
