🌱 ACCT Needs Adopters + Guy Fieri Digs Honey's + Got Frozen Pipes?
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Philadelphia.

Hello all. Patty-Pat Kozlowski here with your fresh copy of the Philadelphia Daily. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about what's happening in town, including updates on:
- ACCT Philly is filled to the brim and needs dogs and cats adopted ASAP.
- Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri likes a Philly diner as one of his top spots to eat.
- The deep freeze in the Delaware Valley has homes and businesses dealing with frozen and burst pipes.
But first, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 44 Low: 27.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Philadelphia who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:
- Now is the time to get your backside to ACCT Philly and please adopt or foster a dog. Philadelphia's only open-intake animal shelter is filled beyond capacity and faces tough decisions if intake continues to outpace adoption. "We're filled to the brim with dogs," said Sarah Barnett, co-executive director of the city's Animal Care and Control Team. "We've had over 100 dogs here and dogs are just coming in every single day. So we're really looking for people to adopt and foster." WHYY
- Guy Fieri has dined at thousands of diners, including hundreds in Pennsylvania in his popular Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Picking a favorite "flavortown" stop isn't possible, so Mashed compiled a list of the best "Triple D" diners in every state. In Philadelphia, that's Honey's Sit 'N Eat. (Daily Voice)
- Did you remember to turn off your hose and winterize? These bone-chilling last few days have put pipes around the region through something of a stress test. Many of the pipes didn't hold up and that had repair crews working straight through the long holiday weekend. "It's just been non-stop. Like, unusual. We're experiencing 60 to 100 calls a day," said Warren Chappell, owner of Boss Plumbing and Heating. (6abc Philadelphia).
Today in Philadelphia:

- Put this on your "to-do" list- Watch the '100 greatest films of all time' during year-long series at the Philadelphia Film Center and Bourse. Do they have Rocky, Jaws and The Godfather on that list? (PhillyVoice.com)
- Hey, remember the 22 year old kid who was put in charge of Coronavirus testing in the City of Philadelphia? The same guy that created a big scandal? Yeah, now he's suing Drexel University-(WHYY)
- Tacos on New Year's Eve? What if I told you that it was a 12 course taco dinner featuring tocos to represent each month in 2022? Well Chef Jennifer Zavala of Juana Tamale is doing just that. On New Year's Eve 7 pm- 10:30 pm Juana Tamale will be hosting their inaugural "Year of the Taco" event.(Wooder Ice).
