'Aerial Adventure Park' Coming To West Fairmount Park
Park goers will soon be able to zip line across the park, as the city reached an agreement with a Georgia-based company to build the park.
PHILADELPHIA – West Fairmount Park is about to get more adventurous, as the City of Philadelphia has reached an agreement with a Georgia-based company to install an "aerial adventure park" in West Fairmount Park.
The city and Treetop Quest will work together to install a zip line course in the park at Chamounix Drive and Ford Road, according to city documents.
Treetop's parks in Georgia and Mississippi include zip lines, balance beams, suspended trampolines and more.

Approved by city officials in late June, the agreement puts the city and Treetop Quest in a 10-year agreement – with the chance for the city to renew the contract twice for five years per renewal – to design, build, manger and operate the park.
According to city documents, Philadelphia has no financial obligations in the project.

The agreement also stipulates Treetop must focus on hiring at least 25 staffers from the local community and provide the city with 1,000 free vouchers for the park each year for Philadelphia youths.
Treetop will also be responsible for removing invasive plant species, restoring forests, creating and maintaining new public trails with environmental educational signage, and provide $500,000 in capital investment for improvements as well as $20,000 for additional site improvements.
Additionally, the city will earn a 4 percent cut of Treetop's gross profits annually.
