Amanda Seyfried Does Ride Along With Philly Cops For New Role
The Allentown native is starring in a new miniseries based on a Temple University associate professor's novel about addiction in Kensington.

PHILADELPHIA — Hollywood star Amanda Seyfried was hanging with Philadelphia Police recently, as she is preparing to appear in a series based on a novel about addiction and the Kensington neighborhood.
The Allentown native known for her roles in "Mean Girls," "Mamma Mia!" and "The Dropout" did a ride along with officers in the 26th District Tuesday for her upcoming role in "Long Bright River," police said.
"Long Bright River" by Liz Moore was published in 2020.

"In a Philadelphia neighborhood rocked by the opioid crisis, two once-inseparable sisters find themselves at odds," a description of the novel reads. "One, Kacey, lives on the streets in the vise of addiction. The other, Mickey, walks those same blocks on her police beat. They don't speak anymore, but Mickey never stops worrying about her sibling."
Moore, a Temple University Associate Professor, joined Seyfried on the ride along, police said.

Seyfried will star as Mickey.
"Long Bright River" was featured on President Barack Obama's favorite books of the year list and was named a "Good Morning America" Book Club Pick.
The series will air on NBC's Peacock at a to-be-determined date.
