📰 News we're reading

1. Philly Pride March, Festival Return: Location, Cost, Road Closures, Festivities (patch.com) — Philadelphia’s Pride March and Festival return this Sunday with a new location on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, drawing more than 100,000 people to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. Residents should prepare for $10 festival admission, extensive road closures around the Parkway and Eakins Oval, and detoured SEPTA bus routes throughout the day.

2. For pregnant mothers in Philadelphia, they can receive a 'Home From Shana' (6abc.com) — Pregnant and postpartum mothers in Philadelphia facing housing instability can turn to A Home From Shana Foundation, which offers emergency supportive housing through its LaborLiveLove program. Founded in memory of LaShana Gilmore, the nonprofit also raises awareness about Black maternal health and hosts postpartum support groups at its local site.

3. Rideshare, delivery taxes at center of Philadelphia's $7B budget negotiations (fox29.com) — Philadelphia City Council is reconvening this morning to hash out Mayor Cherelle Parker’s $7 billion budget, including possible new taxes on rideshare trips and many deliveries. The proposals would steer money to Philadelphia schools, road repairs, and homelessness services, but councilmembers and residents are split over how much extra cost riders and shoppers should shoulder.

4. Pennsylvania car salesman going to prison for ripping off customers, DOJ says (abc27.com) — A Philadelphia used car salesman has been sentenced to roughly three and a half years in prison for defrauding customers who paid for wheelchair-accessible vehicles that were never delivered. Federal investigators, including the FBI and Philadelphia Police, say he took in millions of dollars, often reselling the same van repeatedly, leaving dozens of mostly elderly and disabled victims still waiting for refunds.

5. San Diego Padres vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction 6/4/2026 Today's MLB Picks (pickdawgz.com) — The Philadelphia Phillies host the San Diego Padres tonight at Citizens Bank Park, with Zack Wheeler on the mound after a strong start to his 2026 season. Analysts favor Philadelphia thanks to Wheeler’s dominance and the team’s recent winning stretch, while the struggling Padres look to rebound behind Lucas Giolito.
