Founded in memory of LaShana Gilmore, the nonprofit also raises awareness about Black maternal health and hosts postpartum support groups at its local site.
3. Rideshare, delivery taxes at center of Philadelphia's $7B budget negotiations (fox29.com) — Philadelphia City Council is reconvening this morning to hash out Mayor Cherelle Parker’s $7 billion budget, including possible new taxes on rideshare trips and many deliveries. Pennsylvania car salesman going to prison for ripping off customers, DOJ says (abc27.com) — A Philadelphia used car salesman has been sentenced to roughly three and a half years in prison for defrauding customers who paid for wheelchair-accessible vehicles that were never delivered. Federal investigators, including the FBI and Philadelphia Police, say he took in millions of dollars, often reselling the same van repeatedly, leaving dozens of mostly elderly and disabled victims still waiting for refunds.
