At the scene, officers found emergency medical personnel treating a 1-year-old girl inside an ambulance. Police say the child drowned inside the home.

She was brought to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she was pronounced dead at 7:49 p.m.

Inside the home, officers noticed a basin filled with water in a second-floor bathroom and water covering much of the first-floor dining room, according to 6abc Action News and The Philadelphia Inquirer.

At this point, there are inconsistencies in witness statements about the child's location during the incident, police said Friday morning.

The investigation remains active with detectives from the Special Victims Unit.
